Today, we are talking about idioms , and particularly  about two Idioms containing the word "wedge".

but , what is a wedge?   

According to dictionary.cambridge.org a wedge is a piece of metal, wood, rubber, etc. with a pointed edge at one end and a wide edge at the other, either pushed between two objects to keep them still or forced into something to break pieces off it.  

However, as we already know idioms are phrases whose meaning cannot be determined by the literal definition of the words that make them up.
